The Trials We Face

Last month when I spoke at my home church I spoke on James 1:2-8, which says 2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.  When trials come our way, some of us give up, we think that God isn’t standing next to us anymore, He’s not in our corner, He is not their nor is He going to help us.  The Greek word for perseverance also means patience, which means that sometimes when going through trials we need patience, because in t he end, what God is really doing is taking us to another level of spiritual maturity.

Their are times in our lives when we feel like giving up, or we think that God has forgotten about us, and that He won’t help us.  Their are times, and situations, when we feel this way, and we may have a right to feel this way, though we need to remember that God will never leave us or forsake us.  Hebrews 13:5 that Make sure that your character is free from the love of money being content with what you have; for He Himself has said I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU. During certain trials we are facing or going through we may feel like Jesus felt when he was on the cross, we may feel that God is forsaking us. Jesus was dying on the cross, after being beaten but yet God’s son still screams out ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME. (Mt 27:46). We may feel that God isn’t in our corner during the trials, we may feel like Jesus felt that his own father was forsaken him, though Jesus tells us when we feel like giving up remember that Jesus also cried out why are you forsaken me, though God also tells us that He will never leave us nor forsake us.  Remember that God is always their with us no matter the hardest trial or the strongest storm, he is their right next to you, fighting for you, comforting you, and letting you know that He will never give up on you, and that He will lead you and guide you to whatever it is that He has for you.  Because He has a plan and a purpose for your life.
