Your Will Be Done

Decisions in life, are not always the easiest ones to make, especially when it comes to certain situations or circumstances. It’s tough to make the hard decisions, especially when you ask those close friends or family members around you, and they all give you different answers or bits of wisdom on what to do. After you ask them, you come to realize that it wasn’t exactly the answer or response that you were looking. It may have been the total opposite of what you were hoping to hear. Lately, I have tried to make a decision on what to do in a given situation, and of course, I have asked my friends to get their opinion, and they have giving it to me. Some I agreed with, some I didn’t, and then when I gave them my answer, they understood, why I would or wouldn’t want to do what I wanted to do. You see sometimes we may want to do something on our own, make our decision, choices, and we think it’s the right one, we think it’s going to work out okay. Though that’s not always the case, the choices and decisions that we make are not always the right one. Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, right before he was to be crucified, asked God, his father that God’s will would be done in his life and not his will.

Mark 14:32-42 (NET) They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.” 35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” 37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” 39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him. 41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

So many times in our lives, we think the best will or plan for our lives is our own, when in reality it’s not, it’s Gods. We forget that many times in our lives, that is why we have to stop and remember and say not our will be thy will be done. God today, help us to make the right decisions and choices, in our lives, and to do your will not our will.
