You Are God’s Masterpiece

Ephesians 2:10 says For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.  When we look at the deeper meaning of the five words For we are His workmanship, it is telling us that we are God’s Masterpiece.  Has anyone ever told you that you are a masterpiece? Well God just told you.  Has your child ever made a painting for you, and your child asked your opinion and more than likely you said it’s beautiful, even when you had no idea of what it was.  Usually, when you start out making something for the first time it usually doesn’t come out the way that we visualize it, we have to do it over again, sometimes from scratch.  We hear about the major artists Picasso, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and we hear of their famous paintings, the most famous painting of all time has to be the Mona Lisa.  The other one has to be the Sistine Chapel, though I don’t think they just woke up one day and decided I am going to paint, and out came these paintings it took time.  It took years for them to learn how to do these paintings.  When we come to a knowing knowledge of Jesus Christ, and we have a relationship with him, we don’t get rid of all the sin, guilt, pain, hurt, of our past overnight it takes time.  There are times in my life when I recall what people have told me, what I looked like, that I was a monster, freak, and I had to learn that I couldn’t listen to what people told me.  I couldn’t listen to what the enemy told me, over time I looked in the mirror, even with everything that I felt, and I had to realize that I needed to let go of how people saw me.  Not only people but myself, because there were times in my life when I would look in the mirror, and speak negatively about how I looked.
I would think I am not handsome, that I would never find a wife, because of the way I looked.  I needed to start even with everything that I was still holding on to, start to see how God saw me, as his Masterpiece, even though He wasn’t and still isn’t done with me yet.  I still have to deal with the pain of the past, though I am eventually letting go of the past, and realizing how God sees me As His Masterpiece.  We may not see ourselves like that every day, but we have to remind ourselves of that.  We need to remember that we are not perfect, nor will we be perfect until we see Jesus face to face.  Though God will continue to take out what He needs to take out of us, so that we can be molded and shaped to become more like him, and that we can become his Masterpiece.
