What are You Thankful For?

This time of the year we start to think about the holidays, whether it be Thanksgiving, Christmas, and many of the other holidays that people celebrate.  Though sometimes the commercialism, overwhelms us because we have to go out and buy gifts, food, airplane tickets or gas to fill up the car to travel to the destination of where we are going.  We may even just stay home, and wait for the family and friends to come over and celebrate with us.  Though do we really remember the real reason for the Holidays especially for this one that we have coming up on Thursday.  The one coming up on Thursday is to give thanks for what we have, whether it be family, friends, good health, job.  Though as Christians the best thing we can be thankful for is that Jesus loves us, and that He will forgive us for our sins.  When we make the biggest mistakes, or the biggest sins, He will forgive us, and love us no matter what, that is something that we can be thankful for.  1 Chronicles 16:34 says Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, his love endures forever.  Psalms 106:1 Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; his love endures forever.

This Thanksgiving season, you may be going through some difficult situations, you may not feel you can give thanks because of what you are going through.  You may have lost your job, a family member, you may not want to see some family members at the dining room table because of past fights.  Though God tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 that we are to give thanks in all circumstances.  Give Thanks in all Circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  Sometimes we feel like we can’t always give thanks in every circumstances.  Just like in my own life, with everything that I went through, I didn’t always feel like I could give thanks in every situation.  Though as tough as it was, I learned that I could because I knew that Jesus loved me, and cared for me.  When it comes to the Thanksgiving and Holiday season, thats the most important thing that we need to realize is that Jesus loves us, and cares for us.  After Jesus comes our family, and we need to be thankful for our family.  Regardless of what has happened between our family members, we can be sure that we can be thankful that we have family.  Be thankful this coming Thursday for what you have, and regardless of what you are going through, remember that God tells us that we are to give thanks in every and all circumstances.  Be Thankful today.
