Remove Your Labels

What labels have you put on yourself, or have others put on you?  What are the labels that are on you, that are holding you back from fulfilling the destiny that God has for you?  Have people told you that you wouldn’t make it in life, you will be a failure, you won’t be able to make it as fill in the blank __________.  I’m sure that most of us at one point or another in life have been told that you won’t be able to do this, or that.  Maybe it’s not from someone else, and maybe it’s from our selves.  We look at other people, and we think to ourselves I want to be like them someday.  We forget that we shouldn’t compare ourselves to someone else, all we need to do is to look to Jesus and think about what it is that He thinks of us.  We need to start to remove the labels that we have on ourselves and begin to think about what God thinks about us.  We may feel that we are ugly, or not good-looking, or not handsome, though God thinks of us, and look at us as his Masterpiece.  Ephesians 2:10  For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.  We may think that we are a loser, and not going to make it in this.  Though God wants you to know in the end, you will win.  He had already gone ahead of us, and won the victory for us, on the cross when He said It Is Finished.  In life, we will have battles, and we will have to run the race of life, though there are several verses that talks about running the race, here is one that I like.  1 Corinthians 9:24-27  “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.  Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.  Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.  No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”  There are many labels that we and others put on ourselves.  Over time we need to take them off, and start to realize that those labels are the total opposite of how it is that God sees us.  Someone may have told you, that I don’t love you, maybe you were put up for adoption, and you felt unloved, though God says I love you.

God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of Godin Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:37-39

Remove the labels that you are wearing today; it may take some time to remove them, though hopefully, you will start to realize that the more you remove the labels, the more you will be able to do in life.  The more you will be able to do in life because others have told you, you couldn’t.  Remember that God loves you, and He sees you as His masterpiece.
