Keep on Fighting

I like the Rocky movies as we know in the Rocky movies somehow Rocky always comes out on top no matter how beaten to a pulp he is. No matter how much he’s bleeding or how often he’s been punched, whether it’s in the face or whether it’s in the body, he keeps getting back up. He always seems to get his hand raised when the final bell rings, and the announcer, announces who the winner of the match is, we know it’s going to be Rocky. Life is very similar; we get hit, punched knockdown but by God’s Grace we keep getting up, we keep getting up because God keeps speaking to us through his Holy Spirit get up, I’m not done with you yet. I got more significant plans for you, get up. You have greater things yet to do in this life. In Rocky 4, Rocky gives the most infamous speech in movie history to his son.

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that! I’m always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You’re my son and you’re my blood. You’re the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain’t gonna have a life.“

Rocky tells his son that life is hard, that it’s not always going to be a sunny day, and that we can’t be blaming others for the situation we are in. We have to believe in ourselves. More than that, in a real-life case, not only to we have to believe in ourselves, we have to remember that God believes in us, and more than that, He loves us. If he didn’t love us, he wouldn’t have sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. There where many times in my life when I was knocked down, whether in a physical or spiritual sense, but I kept getting up, I kept on believing that God had something greater in store for my life. There where many times in my life that I could’ve given up, that I could’ve said forget it, I give up, I could’ve laid down until the referee counted to ten.  I could’ve tapped out on the mat. But I didn’t I kept on getting up.

Why because I believed God had a greater plan in store for my life. So in life when the battles come, and your getting hit, or your families getting hit, or you lose that job, or that baby or that relationship crumbles right before you get married don’t give up. Keep getting up, don’t give up, giving up is the easy way out, walking away from the marriage that is hard is the easy way out. Don’t walk away, keep on fighting, keep on praying, keep on believing for that miracle that God has for you. Regardless of what the situation is, keep on fighting, keep on believing, keep on getting up.  Jesus has already won the war, but with his help, you can win the battle.
